That thing I was working on. Forever.
This one was all about - as each one should be about, in theory - pushing myself to try new things. I’m comfortable with drawing, with inking; these are areas in which I continue to grow, but are familiar. Even though I’ve digitally colored for years, it’s been, on the whole, flats with some cel shading once in awhile. I could claim this is because I was training as an animator. But the truth is digital painting has always seemed overwhelming and hard to approach, especially for someone as used to working manually as I have been. I’m making myself learn it, though, the only way you can. Look at all the tutorials you want; in the end, you have to start to do. The rest is messing up, doing odd things, and figuring it out. Or so I assume. I’m still in that first stage.
Whatta ramble. Anyway.
I like Maleficent. Here’s a wild redesign. (Of her younger, I guess????) A bit Disney by way of Jack Kirby, with a hard left at Art Nouveau.
Maybe I could do other villains in a similar….
NO. No decisions like that. Sleep first. Stupid life choices later.
This is my best friend who also writes for my website. And she’s fucking talented. And you should follow her art blog.

I have found the most generic fantasy novel ever written. One of the characters is a talking black horse whose name is Darkhorse.
